L719 - Modern farmhouse in Newbury

Berkshire RG14

Location details

Description:

The property is set in 3 acres of lawns and meadow and is surrounded by farmland and woodland, on the edge of Snelsmore Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), offering idyllic backdrops. Accessed via a private driveway, the property is secluded to screen activity from the public. Craftmanship and natural materials make for a modern farmhouse featuring a striking circular landing within a vaulted hall and garden room, offering a beautiful indoor-outdoor feel. Two-storey glazed gables bring the vista into the home. Open hallways create space and light throughout the property.

The interior design is of exceptional quality throughout with a modern country house feel. It is newly decorated with a neutral palette to make the most of light spaces. The floors are pale cream Jerusalem Limestone and lime-washed oak boarding. Rooms are uncluttered and all of a very generous size to accommodate a large crew. Floor plans available on request. Local barns available on request for storage / studio. The property benefits from solar glazing to prevent it becoming too warm in the summer and is heated via a device that extracts heat from the ground into underfloor heating throughout and is completely carbon neutral.

Outside is a huge limestone terrace enclosed by a hand-made brick wall for sitting. The jasmine, lavender, 100-year-old olive, bay and pussy-willow trees, and fruit orchard bring a botanical feel.
